Workshop: Polaroid 20×24 Instant Images

Human Scale Art Space, Northampton, is honored to bring you an all-day, Polaroid 20×24 Instant Film Workshop, offering a unique opportunity to learn about the legendary 20×24 instant process. It includes two hours of studio shooting time with a subject of your choice, a technical supervisor to help operate the camera, and two sheets of 20×24 instant film. The workshop is limited to four photographers on a first-come-first-served basis. (There is the possibility of a second day if there is more demand, but, in any case, total participation will be no more than six in total.) An additional sheet of 20×24 film can be provided at the time of the workshop for $125 (at cost).

The workshop will be run by the legendary Polaroid instant photography expert and mentor, John Reuter, who ran the Polaroid 20×24 Studio in New York, working with hundreds of leading image makers from around the world (including William Wegman, Joyce Tenneson, and Chuck Close, among others).

The workshop will take place on October 26th 2024 from 9:00AM to 6:00PM, with an hour break for lunch. Working with the Polaroid 20×24 camera is a collaborative process, so participants will be expected to attend the full day regardless of their assigned shooting time. Links to an online introduction to the 20×24 camera, its history, and basic instructions for camera operation, plus directions to the studio, will be sent to all registered participants in advance. Participants should bring necessary props and if a human subject is involved the necessary arrangements should be completed before the workshop begins. The studio will accommodate subjects from close ups to full-body shots.

Human Scale Art Space thanks Nafis Azad for the use of his studio, (https://www.nafisazad.com/) in Whately Massachusetts and our Board Member, John Reuter for his generous support and time.

The subsidized fee for participation is $500 per person (typically at least $800). It is due upon registration and is non refundable.
