“The Improvisational Portrait” turns the highly disciplined and fine tuned “realist aesthetic” on its head. If you like the idea of working faster and more freely to create a finished piece that might take a matter of hours or days rather than months, this workshop is for you. Audiences often mistake a realist style as being “better,” more professional, or requiring more “craftsmanship.” But there are highly skilled artists working today in all kinds of genres, crossing freely from one to the other. Is an improvised jazz piano piece less skilled than a classical sonata?

Like the look of old large-format film photography? Don’t miss this workshop. How to build your own large format camera that makes digital files, for a tiny fraction of the cost of a typical large format camera – less than $150.00. We’ll build a large format “digital camera” that captures approximately 11-inch original images. Same shallow depth of field, same fall off at the edges! Learn exactly how. We’ll even send you a print from a large format digital file you create.
